  1. The air temperature is colder than the water temperature of the pool because the air cools faster than water. So when the water is warmer than the air, the water will feel warmer and your body gets used to the temperature of the water and that's why you'll feel cold when you get out.

  2. Pools seem warmer at night because the air outside (ambient air) is normaly cooler. The temperature of the pool at the end of the day is when its the warmest and it cools down overnight. So ususually by morning the water is not as warm as it was when you get in earlier during the night.

  3. Because they had all day for the sun to heat them up, and then the outside air is gererally cooler at night.

  4. The water from your pools is warmer because you either have a heated pool or because of the amount heat received during the day.   At night radiational cooling accounts for the loss of heating to the surrounding air.

  5. Pools are always warmer at night because the air temperature in the day is usually hotter than the water temperature. so when night comes, the air around is a lot colder than the pool temperature because the sun warmed it up good during the day.  water takes longer to cool than air. but mainly your body recognizes that the air is cold, and when you get in the water the water seems warm because you were just in very cold air.

  6. Water retains heat longer than the air does.

As a result, at night when the temperature drops the pool is fairly close to the temperature it was during the day while the air around it can become significantly colder.

The same effect occurs with the ocean where the warmest ocean temperature on the eastern US are in September when the relative air around it is much colder.
