Why are portable CD players so sensitive?

Seriously. Just give them the slightest movement, and it's just "-SKIPSKIPSKIP-" and it is d**n annoying.

You should get a jog proof CD player. I don't jog, but it was good for limiting skipping. I never had a problem with skipping after I got one of those, even when I listened to it on the bus.

Well Cd's are read by a laser and the slightest movement and the laser has a hard time reading the CD.  There are some cd players that have better anti skip prevention. For example check this list at best buy
