One would think that the efficiency of high percentage hitters ala Tony Gwynn or Paul Molitor would be even more efficient at batting runs in?

  1. because the contact hitters have to get on base and the power hitters drive them in.

  2. It's all about driving the runs in. Which is what the power hitters are paid to do.

  3. When contact hitters get out(2/3's of the time) they usually get out on groundouts(double plays) or shallow pop flies. When cleanup hitters get out, they strike out sometimes, but usually hit high flies which translate into sac flies
