  1. good question,

i think it goes more than just being a giant tomb, i think it is a reflection on the work of a pharoah- his (or her) life's work, greatness etc- because you can only achieve such a monument if you had wealth and control over the people. but also, it is something spiritual, the egyptians sought to reach the stars, it seemed like a gateway to the heavens- some pyramids are located directly beneath the stars

Edit: My proof about the spiritual part is that

    1) Some pyramids are built directly under the stars (We used a science concept of precision to discover where the stars were thousands of years ago)

    2) When a pharoah was disliked, their bodies were left in the pyramids but all the inscriptions about them were defaced (Hatshepsut - a woman pharoah, and Amenhotep (Well the name started with A) - declared that there was only one god and that all the others were fake)

  2. Pyramids were tombs of the Kings and Queens during the old and middle Kingdoms. The size of the pyramid and its perfection were symbolic of the power of the King.

  3. the pharoahs who built them to be their tombs had money , man power , and architects who had genius .

they wanted to leave evidence of their greatness and wealth.

  4. to be tombs for the kings

  5. There is absolutely NO "mystery purpose" (though there have been hundreds of hair-brained ideas put forward) for the building of the pyramids, they were simply built to house the remains (and treasures) of the dead Pharaohs. It was the belief, in Ancient Egypt, that the 'soul' or ka of the Pharaoh NEEDED a body in order to survive in the afterlife...thus every step was taken to insure that the body (especially that of the Pharaoh) would last forever.  In the case of the powerful Pharaohs, that meant a SECURE resting place that could not be destroyed or despoiled. Hence...the Pyramids...which were meant to be impregnable. Unfortunately they were not...and every pyramid tomb in Ancient Egypt was robbed, with many of the mummified bodies destroyed or turned to dust.  That was why the discovery of the INTACT Tomb of the boy king Tut-Ankh-Amun was such an incredible find....it was the most completely intact tomb ever discovered in Egypt up to that point. More than 3,600 items had been buried with the boy king's mummified body. (they are all in the Museum of Antiquities in Cairo). And since he was really a minor Pharaoh who died young (18), it led to wild speculation at to what treasure might have been included in the tombs of the MOST powerful and long lived, Pharaohs...KHUFU, TUTMOSES lll, RAMSES II (the Great)who ruled for 61 years,   or SETI I, one of the most powerful of all the Pharaohs. The building of his pyramid-tomb was begun IMMEDIATELY upon the Pharaoh taking the throne...and most were completed in the lifetime of the Pharaoh...one or two cases are known in which the Pharaoh died before the completion of his Pyramid....in that case it was either abandoned or completed by his son and successor.

  6. to be a unique -engineered miracle- tombs for the pharaohs

  7. to be the king's tomb and to his his valuable in,... Khufu wanted it to be the miracle of that time...

  8. it dates back to the early ages of the pharoahs time when there was King Pheroan, who learned about Allah being the Greatest of all, from Prophet Moses. That agitated him as he thought he was the greatest and then ordered his men and people to build the largest thing to try and reach to Allah and see him.

Silly isnt it? however, it's considered one of the greatest architecture of all times and yes it has many mysterious aspects in it that has to do with the stars, in terms of angles...etc etc.

anyway, the idea of the pyramids being built in Egypt was because it was the king of egypt's idea to do so.
