Why are quotation marks like this È on my keyboard when my comp is slower?

when i hit question marks i get É, quotation marks È other normal keys ^^çà i am getting these symbols, the moment i restart my comp it will no longer do that, but its a pain to restart my comp for something like that, anyone know how i can stop that.....i have a compaq c762nr laptop with vista

Check your keyboard settings in control panel. Make sure it's set for "U.S Keyboard"

This could also be Portuguese language.

That means its set on Canadian French. Go to your settings (click the keyboard on the bottom right of your screen) and switch it back to US.
