  1. Well clouds are just big puffs of air and water....however when a cloud gets to dense with water, it turns that awful greyish black color and starts to rain.  The reason why it turns black is because the water in the cloud is not exactly clear....its usually really dirty and has sediment in it.  Turning the cloud black....thats why you're mom always told you never to drink rain water.  Because it's covered in dirt! lol

  2. Clouds are made up of tiny water droplets or ice crystals, usually a mixture of both. The water and ice scatter all light, making clouds appear white. If the clouds get thick enough or high enough all the light above does not make it through, hence the gray or dark look. Also, if there are lots of other clouds around, their shadow can add to the gray or multicolored gray appearance.

  3. White clouds are composed of very small water particles.  These particles scatter sun light in all directions because the water particles  are small.  That is why they appear white no matter what angle you look at them.

When the particles grow bigger they no longer scatter light in the same way and so the clouds appear to grow dark.  It is just that large particles don't scatter in all directions as much.
