Why are razorblades so expensive?

I'm asking about the double and triple guarded type blades.

because it takes 1 person so long to get each one as sharp as they are. i believe 2 days per blade

(ANS) I would imagine the reason is down to the cost of production, cost of the materials to make the blades, the tooling equipment to make the blades, the cost of marketing the product, and finally the extra mark up i.e. profit the makers need to make from the product, Oh! and the cost of transporting the products to the stores (oh! and the stores profit or mark up too on top) no wonder their so expensive.

**ALL that just to remove some facial hair !! gosh makes you think doesn't it?

Someone has to pay for the fancy advertising, so its passed onto the consumer.  Buy generic, cheeper and work as well.

Because tou have to have them.  Same as tampons and other sanitary protection.  They can charge what they like, you will still have to buy it.

Razorblades are on e of the most stolen items - they're small and easy to sell on so it's probably to meet the cost of lossess.  the big companies - Gillette etc also advertise heavily so that has to be paid for.

because the manufacturers are thiefs. i buy 10 or 12 packs of bics at walmart for about $3 and they are long lasting.

Yeh it's ridiculous how expensive they are but my wife's dad gets them free cos he's a fireman, gillette mach 3's like, none o this bic pish.

They cost pennies to produce but the profit margin is all down to what the market will stand.  Grow a beard and the price will come down.

Being from an older generation blades years ago did'nt last more than a couple of shaves. Although the new blades are somewhat expensive they seem to last a lot longer. You can buy in bulk.
