Why are recruitment agencies frequently so awful, even the smaller, supposedly "better" ones?

If they think they can't find you a job, why don't they just be up front and say so!!!!

  1. they are driven by targets and targets alone. It's not about it, it's about their bonuses

  2. As Seamus quite rightly said, they get a big bonus when they successfully 'pimp' people out to companies. What really annoyed me when I was jobhunting is the way that many agencies will pitch you for a job, then if you don't get it they completely forget that you exist and don't bother putting you forward for other vacancies, most of the time. It is infuriating!

That said, I've had some good experiences with recruitment agencies, there are some that really are very professional and I have got decent jobs through them in the past.

  3. Because they are staffed by jumped up George suit wearing little tw@ts who think they're a cut above!

    Avoid at all costs!

They don't care and it's all about sales to them.

  4. they are leeches on the workers back, use them and they will stop you getting a decent wage.

I heard if they pay you £6 an hour they charge the company 3 times the amount.

  5. some times its if the face fits your better off in the job center

  6. Recruitment agencies are just that.  Their job is to recruit people for the positions which their clients (by whom they get paid) have vacant.  It is not part of their responsibility to find you or anybody else a job.  They may keep your details on hand in case a position for which you are suitable is referred to them - that's all.

BTW this is not the area for this Q.
