  1. It's the liberal mainstream media that should be afraid of the Fairness Doctrine.  I'd love to actually see some conservative counterpoint on NBC, ABC, CBS, etc. etc, etc.....Fairness..my a...

Oh...and Air America is doing so swimmingly well aren't they!  What does that tell you.  That libs don't listen to am radio....

  2. Since the beginning of radio broadcasts in the 1920s US law guaranteed that different viewpoints would be represented in the broadcast emdia. In the late 1990s the GOP Congress stripped the FCC of its power to enforce open access to the airwaves.

The Fairness Doctrine would restore that access. The right-wing is afraid because they know that in a real open market of ideas they can't compete and they will  in many cases be out of a job.

  3. It tries to regulate speech.

  4. because it's neither..

And it's not FEAR... it's DISGUST

  5. I don't think it's fear, I think it's contempt for the failures who whined to government that their product was not consumed by the people on its merits.  How would you feel if you started a business and whipped your competitors' asses, only to have those same competitors go whining to government that you weren't "fair"?  Well, as a socialist, you starting a business is a false concept but I think you might still get my point.

  6. Because they know that people will get views other than their right wing conservative brainwashing.

  7. Because it flies in the face of fairness.  Since the left wing can't get people to listen to left wing radio stations like Air America, even after pumping up Air America with millions of your tax dollars, they want to go where people actually listen to the radio...the right wing stations.  They "demand" equal time.  The listeners of right wing radio will simply turn the stations off once they begin to broadcast left wing ideology, essentially killing right wing radio.  The so-called "fairness doctrine" would better be called the "Un-fairness doctrine".

Just let the free market determine what people want to listen to.  Get the friggin government out of my way.  If the left wants to have its messages broadcast then let them broadcast from their own stations.  However, it's been demonstrated that most people don't want to listen to left wing radio. Radio such as Air America has been a dismal failure.  That's why the dems want to mandate it instead.

  8. Could it be that they are afraid that the audience and success that they have worked hard to produce will arbitrarily be cut and divided based on someone else's opinion about what Americans should be allowed to see or hear?  d**n right they should be afraid.

  9. The fairness doctrine will ruin talk radio,Its only the LIBERALS who want it.Only because Liberal talk shows are all losing money because nobody listens, They are only trying to keep Limbaugh. Hannity and few others off because they tell the public the truth and the truth hurts,You have to understand Liberals control the Newspapers, NBC CBS ABC CNN PBS,IF all you hear is one point of view how can you decide whats good for you, It got so the only thing you can believe in the news papers are the sport scores and the obituary's You keep in mind a half truth is a lie.

  10. They are afraid it will cause radio stations to drop their shows.  Under the Fairness Doctrine, radio stations would have to give equal time to liberal talk shows.  However, due to the lack of listeners, many radio stations may not be able to sell enough commercial air time during the liberal show time slots.  Those stations might then replace both the right-wing shows and liberal shows with programming that more people would listen to, increasing their commercial sales.

  11. Because it would only apply to conservative talk radio. I am a Conservative and would be all for it if it applied to ALL media. This would never happen because it would take away one of the 3 liberal strong holds...the media.

  12. It's simple really.  Because the mainstream media has basically ignored the conservative viewpoint, they are raking in big bucks and big ratings being the balance to the "objective" news media.

If the Fairness Doctrine is enacted, it will put them out of business.  In essence, Congress making a law to silence the opposition.  Scary stuff.

  13. cause pelosi only intends to enforce it in one area.

  14. Because they are not used to being fair. Their way is to talk over anyone who dares disagree with them and they make it loud too.

  15. Because it ISN'T fair.  Araid NO. The only reason pelosi wants it is because liberal talk radio doesn't succeed, because NOBODY listens to it.  Watch out mainstream media.  You could be next.

  16. The so called "fairness doctrine" is not a "fairness doctrine" at all.

The so called "fairness doctrine" forces radio stations to give equal air time to other groups that have no support.

This costs the radion stations a large amount of money. The result is that radio stations will not broadcast anything controversial so they do not have to give away air time to opponents.

Radio stations are supported by advertising dollars.

If the opponents do not have sufficient people interested in their point of view, the radio stations cannot sell advertising for those opposing segments.

that costs radio stations a large amount of money.

The purpose of the so called "fairness doctrine" is to essentially shut down controversial points of view.

The radio stations were going bankrupt when the so called "fairness doctrine" was law.

the radio stations did not start making money again until the so called "fairness doctrine" was removed on 1987.

  17. i could try to explain it to you but i'm sure after one sentence or two your mouth would drop and you'd get that glazed stare over your face. i'm not trying to imply anything. dems have about as much brains as a phucking door k**b. se la ve'!

  18. Because they are afraid that people will finally see that they've been blowing smoke out their asses all this time!

  19. Why is it addressed only to radio?. Must every show be like Hannity and Colmes?.

Who decides what is fair or not?. The Government LOL.

  20. Because it would not promote "fairness". Do you actually think that the MSM would give equal time to a conservative viewpoint?
