I've always thought colored eggs were fake, but I just say a picture of blue robin eggs. Is there something in their bodies that makes their eggs blue?

  1. its pigment that make robin eggs blue.

  2. You're right; the blue color is from chemicals in the mother's body which are deposited as the shell is formed.

"The egg shell color comes from pigments in the mother robin's blood! Hemoglobin from ruptured blood cells is transformed into "bile pigments," which are carried by the robin's blood to where the eggshell forms near her "cloaca."

  3. Nah its just so that they're more obvious to predators... God hates robins
