  1. because they possess abilities that no human has come in contact with...well, unless you made them or you're from the future.

  2. because they are like human in ability or even better, but don't have human kindness or love, they are not held back by a conscience.

  3. Built by man who make daily errors....

  4. People are afraid of the idea of artificial intelligence realising that it is superior to its creator. Not that Hollywood via movies like the Matrix (cool as!) or others have helped to remove this frankenstein complex. But really, if we did make robots the way we often portray them in anime etc- strong, durable, intelligent- in survival of the fittest, they would probably win. If you want to read a really good book dealing with this phenomenon, try pretty much anything by Issac Asimov, but especially 'The Naked Sun' or even 'The bicentennial man'. Addditionally, the 'Foundation' series by the same author is also excellent.

  5. Because they are efficient, work without sleep, don't belong to unions, don't ask for pay rises and don't take coffee breaks. All in all a very scary prospect. On the upside, if they threaten you, you can always pull the plug on them or turn them off.
