Why are romanian girls so good at gymnastics?

Sandra Izbasa i think won the floor excercise beating shawn and nastia. They have talent for sure but them chinese and americans are just better.

Small countries that couldn't compete at all events against giants like the Soviet Union and the US, pick niche games that are popular in their country and focus on that.  Examples:

Romania -used- to perform superb gymnastics because (1) they, like Cedric of Rotherwood pointed out, are a small country, and smaller countries tend to concentrate and excel at one sport, and (2) they had excellent coaches, like Bela Karolyi for one. But through the years, most of the best coaches immigrated to other countries, Bela Karolyi for example, leaving the Romanians with average coaches. Romania has thus seen a decline in their gymnasts' performances; the female commentator (Jennifer Sey, I think?) during the gymnastics performances mentioned "the Romanians at home are hoping for a bronze medal in the team performance," "instead of reviewing their routines on the balance beam like they did before, the girls are just sitting in a corner chatting with each other," and "the Romanian era is coming to an end.

As for Sandra Izbasa, I congratulate her. It's not everyday someone can beat Shawn Johnson in gymnastics. However, it seems that nowadays, the gymnasts are focusing on improving on other events, such as the Chinese and the vault, leaving the floor exercise not very well attended to. One of the male commentators even said, "The floor exercise is where the scores have been the lowest." This gave Romania a decent chance to prove their worth in gymnastics since the competition in that event has died down some.
