Why are rural communities inherently different from urban communities?

rural communities tend to have a more historic population of the same families in an area,people tend to know there neighbours and take a genuine interest in helping out there neighbours.Urban communities are more interested in beating the Jones and humiliating there neighbour than they would be to ever try to help them,when is the last time your neighbour helped you or even said hello to you do you even know who your neighbour is 3 doors away let alone next door

In an urban setting you are exposed to a diverse set of circumstances and experiences.  You have the theatre, a wide variety of food types and choices, a diverse set of people from around the world, etc.  The exposure to those differences leads to a different approach to the world.  

Additionally, when you are surrounded by so many people, that don't know you, there is an inherent anonymyty that comes along with it.  In a rural setting everyone knows you and knows your business and that leads to different behavior.

The other thing I believe makes the difference is your parents - how open are they to experieces or are they comfortable with the consistancy of the same thing day after day.  That comfort is more prevelant in rural settings due to the fact that there are fewer available experiences and sensory inputs.

We don't worry about things like global warming. I retired and bought 10 acres in the middle of nowhere. We don't have the stress of living in the city with the crime, and traffic jams. We have to be evironmentally friendly because our water comes from a well. If we pollute the ground it's going to end up in our drinking water. Down here everybody knows everybody and we look out for each other. I really feel sorry for people who live in the city.
