Why are russians so dominant in sports?

look at the boxing heavyweight division the champions are all russians,search up "alexander karelin" and "fedor emelianenko" its weird even look at rocky 4 with ivan drago is it steroids or what?

In regards to the heavyweight division, one reason there is a shortage of Americans is because the Michael Jordan era turned the attention of the bigger kids towards basketball.

I honestly think that the Russians want the win more than the Amricans do anymore. A lot of these fighters from Europe come from nothing and see boxing as the only way out and to better their own lives. The American boxers when they get great, lose sight of what they have and how hard it was to get there. All in all, the Russians wanna win every fight, no matter what and dont care about the glory.

Fedor is NOT on Roids. He is just that bad. Its all about cycles, like a roller coaster, up and down, right now America is down and Russia is up. I predict in 5 years the rolls will be reversed.

Bigger American athletes have far more incentive to try Basketball and Football over Boxing.

There are no boxing scholarships, and it takes many years to make any real money in boxing. So football and basketball is a no-brainer for them.

it's the law of averages working itself out, as when they had the soviet union, they were not allowed to box professionally, so they are making up for it now.

as for drago, i assume it is steroids he's injected with.
