  3. As long as we aren't compeled to tug it in, and it looks cool, then why not.

  4. You know, I went to school to learn to express myself in words. "Can't express myself" is a pathetic excuse for anyone who has learned to talk and write to make. I think school uniforms are an excellent idea.

  5. Well there are pros and cons to school uniforms.  here are some cons

    1) it is mostly just a way for schools to suck cash out of parents' pockets

    2) It stifles creativity

    3) It inspires mob mentality

    4) Parents should be able to dress their kids however they want

    5) Job of school is to teach, not dictate/rule on fashion

    6) It is unfair to families with less money

    7) It leads to kids having even stupider social contests over object even more ridiculous than clothing

    8) One step closer to the schools coming into your home and dictating how you will raise your own kids

    9) Schools try to make everyone think alike...now they are gonna look alike...like drones buzzing around for their masters

mkrf1765> I see.  So what else should we strip from kids?  I mean it is only time of life to have fun without care...maybe they should all go to work.  If this is one time where you DON'T have to wear a uniform why steal that from them?  Also the kids will seperate into groups regardless and will seprate based on some external thing like watches or rings or shoes.  Uniform won't stop that, and all you did was take away one of the 3 things we let kids pick for themselves.  Quality of uniform WILL be directly proportional to expense so the poorer families will ahve shabbier uniforms which leads to the end of the starting at zero you suggest. Not to mention that every school with uniforms has the SAME EXACT social conflicts as schools without uniforms...so they solve nothing except "What will I wear today"

Not saying I disagree fully but as you decided you would not answer question I thought I would debate you a bit

  6. 1. Cuz they're not fun

    2. Cuz we can't exactly express ourselves

    3. Most of them are uncomfortable

    4. You can't really tell the difference between the bad crowd, and the good crowd, when we're all wearing the same thing.

    5. It's too easy to blend in.

    6. They stink.

  7. If you are writing a persuasive speech about why uniforms should not be required at your school, you should look at the other side of the arguement as well.

    1.  Everyone does fit in.  This is not a bad thing.  There are many students who are ostracized based on the clothing they wear.  Is this fair?  There are intelligent, funny,  beautiful people who are poor and cannot afford fancy clothes.  Does that make them less human than wealthier, fancier dressed students?

    2. Conformity on certain levels is not a bad thing.  It makes us all start on the same level.  The stars will shine  and the dregs will fall to the bottom no matter what he/she is wearing.

    3.  As far as outgrowing clothes you don't wear:  This is just plain ridiculous.  You will always have clothes in your closet that you don't wear as often as others.  You will grow in or out of those clothes at the same time.  If you want to wear all your clothes the same, then change outfits on the  weekends and after school.

    4.  Not all uniforms are uncomfortable.  The high school in the county next to mine requires uniforms.  They wear dark pants (or shorts):  navy blue, black, and/or blue jeans.  They have a choice of blue, black, or white polo shirts or button down shirts.  Most of these are what students are wearing anyway.  They can choose what shoes they wear.  After the first year, there weren't any complaints.  The clothing stores in town give discounts to parents who purchase 3 more more school uniform items.

    5. Most of the student body, upon graduation, will be required to wear a uniform to work:  military uniform, football uniform, fast food uniform, hospital uniform, work pants, work shirt, safety shoes, glasses, hats, etc.  You might as well get in practice.

  8. I went to public school and I don't think they are bad as I am often impressed...

We are all funny, I imagine that the uniform is to display everyone as equal; however you can tell if kid has a brand new (or dry cleaned) uniform every morning... If they are sporting a $200 pair of shoes or the latest fancy watch - there is a clear distinction of class...

  9. School uniforms are bad because...when you wear school uniforms you dont really use your normal clothes as much and you out grow them without wearing then as much. You also have to keep buying uniforms because the material they are made of is usually cheap and rips easily and then your wasting money. Under the US Constitution everyone has the right to express themselves as they wish. Id say more reasons but if youre planning on copying this onto your homework then forget you.

  10. School uniforms are bad because it only limits children to wear one thing. Children in schools express theirselves by what they wear. If you take away that then how do people know what other people are like. When a boy is attracted to a girl its normally because of how her body is and what she looks like underneath her close. When you cover all that up with a uniform, you find it harder to know what that special someone is like, so it may revert to a automatic disinterest in that girl and you may never want to date her.

You have to take into consideration that a lot of people meet the ones they like in high school and it carries on to become your love of your life. Now apply these uniforms to schools from back in the day. Imagine if your mom or dad never really saw anything in each other because they were turned off by the way they both looked in their uniforms. That may then revert to you as a child not being born because then they never really became attracted to each other.
