  1. probably cuz you have boring teachers...or that there teaching material is boring or both....but i'd go for the first one...cuz i have had boring teacher and fun teachers(there awesome!....)

  2. Science and math both require the memorization of facts / procedures.  I have so many interesting things to do in both subjects, but the bottom line is that some point, the students must learn (i.e. memorize) the information required by the state.

I struggle so hard against the reluctance of students to put forth any effort, that there is no time left for anything else.  In math, for example, I use the I do - we do - you do model, but when it comes to the "you-do" the students just sit there, and don't even try.  So, when I circulate, all I get is this:

    "I don't get it."

    "What don't you get?"

    "Everything."

"Can you ask me a more specific question?"

    "What do I do?"

"You can't do anything until you copy the problem."

    "Oh, yeah, my bad."

"Now, point to the example we did together."

    "OK"

"Show me the step you don't understand."

    "Now I get it."

    "That's wonderful." [note sarcasm]

  3. I think you are off base.  They are usually not boring, they have subjects that people don't always understand easily and they usually know it well, sometimes not understanding why everyone can't see it so easily.

  4. I would have to say it definitely depends on the teacher. Some teachers are just boring, while others are more "fun". Fun is not necessarily a good thing though. You could have a great time with your teacher and not learn a thing. Looking back at high school, I think some of the best teachers I had, I did not like at the time.

  5. Probably because it requires an attention span beyond 15 seconds to communicate science and math concepts.

  6. You've got to be kidding me, what class have you had where fireballs rise up from your hands and the teacher was willing to combat death by lying atop a bed of nails while a cinder block was smashed on top of him with a sledgehammer?  If you're in an upper level science class and its boring your teacher doesn't appreciate good science.

  7. I've had bad science and math teachers, but not boring ones.  Either you have just been unlucky, or you just don't like math and science.

  8. it also depends on the students how they are interested or keen to learn. Overl all way of teaching is a important thing that makes the boring thing INTERESTING.

    Ok buddy

  9. Maybe they are bored with the subject.

Just because they know the subject, does not make them a good teacher.

I think being a good teacher is a talent all by itself.

  10. As a Chemistry and Physics teacher, I take offense to that statement. (Not really but what the heck.) Actually, being a younger teacher, the student tend to "bond" with me more often. Probably because I listen to their types of music, watch their types of shows, and actually still have "fun" left in my. (Unlike some of my fellow teachers who are older, much older.)

  11. the subjects are boring to most

  12. out of four teachers for science, ive had one good one.  The others were just really bad teachers in general which made the class suck.  For math, ive had 2 really good teachers out of 4 that have made the class interesting.  Math is usually just a really boring subject. Theres not much you can do besides learn a new topic and review it.  Thats about as fun as it gets
