i normally don't think much of it but i was watching china on the balance beam and one girl made at least 3 errors and gets a 15.9 and a perfect score isn't far from that. is it that critical to only lose point something points? instead of full numbers. for that matter what is the judging based on.

  1. it all comes down to there A score which is basically the difficulty level.

the higher the A score of difficulty the higher there overall score.

and yes it is very important losing only .01 points because that can be the difference between 1st and 2nd place.

  2. so was i watching it!i love it when they do that part and the vollyball part to! and they r one of the best ones for childern!i don`t think no other ppl would be in and they r like 12 13 10 mayby even 9! because i have seen a 9 year old on there!

  3. because the difficulty factor was much higher so she started out with more points and then the errors were deducted.

  4. umm lets see  mayB because they're the best athletes  ?  der der der

  5. The A panel judges the requirements, difficulty, and connections of a routine. The scoring starts at zero and then adds points accordingly. The B panel judges the execution of a routine, and the scoring starts at 10 with points deducted accordingly for execution and for any applicable violations such as stepping out of bounds or being over the time limit. The two panels are then added together for the final score.  The more difficult the more points she started out with before any errors.  Starting high and taking the required deductions for errors, she ended up higher than if she started out with lower difficulty points and had no errors.  In other words her total from A panel judges was much greater than the other athlete, even though she had required deductions from B panel judges and a lower score from them, when they were both added together they totaled more than the other athlete.  Tricky and confusing to veiwers..
