I'm trying to buy a foreclosed house in Antioch, California and all others the same (same 4 Bd Rm, same 2-1/2 ba, similar square footage, etc, etc ) the only difference is the other house has a swimming pool. Now why are the houses with pools selling from 40% to 65 % higher than houses without pools if having a swimming pools doesnt add value to the house ?

  1. Huh?  Who told you a pool doesn't add value to a house?  It can be a huge investment into a property but definitely builds equity... maybe not as much as the initial cost of the pool though.  So of course a comparable house with a pool is going to cost more.

  3. Pools are expensive to install and if someone is buying a house and wants an inground pool than it does add value to the house..If the person looking for a house does not want a pool than  it does not add value.
