Why are ships, cars, planes etc referred to as 'SHE'?

Because they are high maintenance and fall apart if you dont carefully tend to their needs. Because you can trade them in for a new model when you wear out the older one but you usually dont get any improvement just a younger version of what you had. Lastly they look great until you take them home

and find out the hidden cost and sacrifices.

Everything is referred to as she,the only thing that is not is adult males. although some of those are as well.

Because most owners are male and they might as well be married to their toys. They see more of the ship, car ,plane than they do their wife or girlfriend.
