Why are smaller speakers quieter than larger speakers?

Why are smaller speakers quieter than larger speakers?

Small speakers have smaller cones(one type) they are for higher frequencies. than the larger speakers lower frequ.,the small speakers may appear to be lower,  it is because they need more volume to move the cones.This is a simple explanation
