Why are so many AFL players getting tattoos lately? Is there a known reason?

Because I've always held the opinion that the only males who disfigure themselves with tattoos are of the criminal element or have an extremely low level of intelligence. Looks like I'm right on that opinion!

Thanks mate,  wonder which banner i fall under,  about 10 decent sized tattoo's, been in trouble as a young bloke with the cops, who wasn't?.

Don't class myself as stupid, so you tell me.  I never disfigured myself either, i like the artwork, mine are covered, if i wear a longish short sleeved shirt, so who does it hurt?. The area i grew up in and the team i played for, the blokes who never had them looked out of place, it makes  no difference to what type of person you are.

only a person of low level intelligence would have an opinion like yours.you should try and have a look at the real world.you mite be surprised at who's tattooed . who knows a tattooed moron like a footballer or even a doctor may help you one day!

wrong luke hodge,trent croad,tim boyle,jarryd roughead and mark williams all have tattoos and they not crimnals

Who cares if they have tattoo's or not as long as they are playing well for their team. Tattoo's don't make a difference to them anyway.

Leaving aside the issue of what sort of person gets a tatt, I may remind X man that many of his cherished team got tatts to celebrate their last premiership! A maggie on the ankle in most cases.

Perhaps it is that footballers have always had tatts, but recently they have become more visible in terms of where - or in the case of guys like Fevola, that there has been more showing off!

BTW I don't have a tatt, and would not, because nothing is forever, even lurve!

Because it is the trendy thing to do if you're a young bloke, at the moment.

I'd never have one because they are permanent. Plus I think this is just a question to get people stirred up!

Which is the whole reason I could never get one, I just know id get sick of it and want something different, or change my mind.

As for the footballers, I think its a "look at how tough I am" thing.

wat the h**l!? just becoz you get a tatoo dsnt mean your a criminal! my cousins husband has tatoos and he is like a big teddy bear.
