Why are so many Americans against America?

I wonder sometimes how many Americans giving answers on this site have actually been out of this country and experienced the horrors and restrictions existing in other countries. I wonder how many understand this is a great country and we deserve a leader who loves this country more than anyone. I have a great respect and true love for this country. We are very blessed and fortunate to live here and enjoy our freedom. I personally want my president to feel the same way and consider American and its people his/her main priority and would be willing to die for its honor.

I love the USA, not so much our politicians. I have only traveled to Mexico (and I don't mean Cancun), but it did make me appreciate the freedom and safety that we have here in the U.S.

Perhaps the Americans that are against America are the ones that are living with their families in cars, or the ones that have been victims of crime, or the ones that work their fingers to the bone to only get a lousy wage equal to pocket money or perhaps it's the people that suffered in hurricane katrina that were left like animals to fend for themselves......PERHAPS IT'S YOUR PATHETIC GUN LAWS or your extreme overpopulation. Being an Aussie I'm glad I'm here and not there (give it time, our country is heading the same way). NOT NICE BUT TRUTHFUL.

I agree and I disagree. I do see lots of Americans that rip on other countries and have never left this one...to me that is just as silly. I love this country and loving this country it hurts me to see it being destroyed...it breaks my heart daily to watch some of the things that are happening here. I live in a state where we used to be a powerhouse of employment and now we are at one of the highest rates of unemployment. I see lots of people in pain everyday. I see this government poisoning it's people. Every democratic country has it's positives and negatives I think it's arrogant of us to think we have it perfect...we don't. But I still hold hope that we can pull it back together.

Love of country is not the same as love of government that rules the country.  

Nationalism ( love of your own country ) has caused many armed conflicts in the world.

I think it's because we don't teach our children how great America is anymore. In school they are taught about everything bad we've done, and not so much about what makes America exceptional. Kids today grow up and take for granted how lucky they are. We should remind them of our history and everything we've been through in the past to get to where we are.

So many Americans are not AGAINST America.  We are against all of the horrible things that the American government does from time to time.  Just because atrocities are done by Americans does not make them OK.  We want a just government that treats other people with dignity and respect, even if it mwans that some foreign market might not be opened up for commercial opportunities.  If you don't hate the atrocities committed by the American government then you're not paying attention or you're just pitifully stupid....

I will not blindly agree to everything the guy whose been chosen to wear the paper crown for a term decides on. If the founding father's loved England they way you love America we would be the United Colonies of England.

Yes we do Have our problems but , we have the best thing going . I do however hate my Govt it is as far from what the Founders wanted as the earth to the sun .

I took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies Foreign and Domestic , I did not take an Oath to defend the Govt . People today are Sheep they are being lead and don't care , they want someone else to do the dirty work for them . Guess Orwell was right when He said ," America sleeps peaceful at night because rough and violent men stand ready to do violence on their behalf "

As to our "Pathetic Gun Laws" I do believe that right after Australia did away with the guns Home invasion went through the roof , The reason our country is so great is due to our right to "Keep and Bear Arms" For you see an armed man is a Citizen an unarmed man is a subject .

I have traveled outside of the US many times and more than just Mexico or Canada.  I also have learned to respect other places outside the USA. Yes, I feel good when I come home the USA.  I also feel ashamed when I see Americans being very xenophobic.  I do not feel pride when my fellow Americans call me un-American because I question the USA sometimes.  Criticizing my government is my right, I do not do it often, but it does not make me dangerous or un-American.

It is not that Americans that are against America. It is the Americans who are not happy with current policies of the United States. This is good because of the democracy within our country that allows us a voice in how we feel about the policies.

America isn't a great country when your a slave to the government . How can we live in a world full of nothing but illusions & say this a great country . We have all been lied to by the government so they could control & brainwash you into doing what they want . Look around somethings aren't always as they seem to be .
