Why are so many Americans so adamant and scare of being labeled prejudice?

I see so many people in our country who would rather have their daughter marry a black drug dealer than be called prejudice, or called any other slime name or what ever and they will say "sticks and stones may break my bones " has our society became so delicate and P.C, they have lost all of their senses?

Agreed.  According to the media and education system, we're supposed to feel sympathy for multiple murderers (like the founder of the violent Crips gang), but anger to anyone that seems prejudiced, even if they aren't.  That's insane.

Also, most of the people that are opposed to "prejudice" don't mind if the prejudice is directed towards white people.  They will praise a black murderer but demonize a (non-prejudiced) white person that speaks before he thinks.  You can see one example on this very board.

I don't care if anyone called me prejudiced or not.  I am really tired of being told I have to be accepting of everyone and everything.  I accept people for who they are, but you better believe I'm not going to walk through the black part of town at night.

It is really a problem, further enhanced by b.s. multiculturalism!

The word prejudice means to pre-judge others based on some criteria, i.e., color, s*x, religion, etc.  It's like police using profiling methods to capture criminals. Frankly, it makes some sense, but every person should be given a chance to prove you wrong, unless they carry beliefs of their own that simply contradict your own beliefs about things.  At this point, charges of prejudice are simply a ploy to gain sympathy for them, and against you, by the mainstream, or vice versa, if you choose to use this tactic for the furthering of your own cause or belief system.  There is a battle going on for our minds, our hearts, our souls.  Charges of prejudice are supposed to chop you off at the knees.  Some are strong enough in their own beliefs that they shrug off the charges, seeing them only as a ploy of their enemies.

Yes, our society has become too P.C.  If someone's not P.C., they're labelled racist, and then people want nothing to do with them.  So that's why people worry about it.

I seriously doubt you know many people who would rather have their child marry a drug dealer than protest. However, if they protest because he's black, instead of protesting because he's a freakin' DRUG DEALER, then they're being prejudiced.

Unless you're prejudiced, why are you worried about the increasing will of the PEOPLE (it's not a law, after all) to be politically correct? The worst that can happen is they don't like you. What a tragedy.

Prejudice against a person for reasons that do not relate to that persons actions are rightly against the law. The improvements in Civil Rights law over the past 50 years have fortunately shamed and frightened enough bigots into keeping below the horizon that they have much less chance of corrupting their children than before, and I think that is a good thing.

yes. people claim racism mostly so they can sue to get rich quick. Another problem with America if u ask me. Back to your question, there are same cases where racism does take place and that is the problem. That gives people to cry wolf and they usually win based on the accusation alone. i am not racist, I think there are arseholes in every color and religion, and there is not one race where it happens more.

The civil rights movement that started over 50 years ago was enormously successful.  'Racist' is very nearly the worst thing you can call an American.  Being labeled a racist can end your career, and even a false accusation of racism is often enough to silence or discredit you.  The only worse labels than 'racist' are the ones you can't use without revealing yourself to be a racist... (and that you very often /litterally/ cann't use due to censorship).

Its a stigma that can follow you around and people will prejudge you on, I actually used to worry about it, but then decided as long as I know I'm not a racist, who cares what others think.
