I don't get it. I thought Bush was a great leader and taking everyone down the right path.

  1. Musharraf is the only Bush ally that has been forced out of office and I have to admit that he was a dictator in all but name.  At this point in the game I think the US people and the WH are at the point where they will take a friendly dictator like Musharraf over a weak and easy to ovethrow Dem govt for security reasons.  I know I am.

  2. its called politics.

Even Churchill lost his post after WW-II

  3. Being Bush allied just sound like a suicidal politic position in the rest of the world.

But they don't care they earned an afterlife for a US bank, lobby, or oil company

  4. Because they are favorable to the West, which is not popular in some of these countries, particularly countries with a large Muslim influence.

  5. I think they call them "elections"

    We have one coming, too.

You see, son, it's called a Democracy.

  6. Why are so many Bush allies elected as heads of other countries? Take a look at Germany, France, Ukraine, and the list goes on.

  7. Nobody ever said that democracy was easy.

It's still better than any alternative we've ever come up with.

A succession of US presidents and Western Democratic leaders have done a great job.  Bush has been a far better leader than many people in the US have given him credit for and most of what he has done has been quiet and backstage.  History will give him credit for far more significant and positive achievements than we can see today.

The world is a complex place and we don't always get to work with perfect people.

We have to play the hand we're dealt, such as Musharref, who was elected in Pakistan whether we liked it or not.

There was no way we could ignore him because we needed Pakistan's cooperation. We couldn't overthrow him and install someone else, thereby overruling their democratic system.

Sometimes they're friends, sometimes they turn on us. Other times, they're just weak or look out for themselves first.

We don't get to call the plays.  We just deal with it as best we can.

This is all "way above Obama's pay grade."

  8. he was a great leader, people are just haters!
