Why are so many Race Jockeys Irish?

my mum was tiny, she was one of the 'little people' too.

and the fact that horse racing has a huge tradition in Ireland, what with having the best horses and all that... :-)

because many thorougbred studs are irish.... everyone favours an irish-bred horse, so naturally their jockeys will be irish.
