I'm going to apply for this visa soon, and I've been told of so many people having their visa rejected. I'm Australian and these people who have been rejected are also Australian. They are all quality people...respectable jobs, educated, saved up money and no criminal offences. They are the right age to apply...I am the same, but I'm trying to figure out what else they have done wrong? I don't want to make any mistakes because it costs $500 for the process which is not refundable, successful application or not!!

  1. A lot of applications are rejected because:

    - they are not satisfied with what you have provided, or

    - dont believe that your main purpose for coming here is the holiday aspect, but rather to get a job

    - not convinced that you will leave at the end of the two year period.

Try giving them as much info as you can with you application. Also show them you have the money to support yourself. Would help if you wrote a letter stating what you intend to do (holiday) and that you intend to leave the UK after 2 years because.......(whatever reason). A convincing letter always helps!

Recently there have been a lot of rejections though because of this whole immigration law change etc.

    extra info:

The WHM scheme is due to be deleted later this year when the new points-based system Youth Mobility Scheme is launched.

The youth mobility scheme allows young people to come and experience life in the UK for up to two years. If your country joins the scheme and you meet the criteria to participate in the scheme, you will be free to do whatever work you like during your stay in the UK except for business, professional work etc

You will need to be a national of a participating country etc.

You will also need to be aged between 18 and 30 years of age and have sufficient funds to support yourself from when you first enter the UK until you start earning.

However you can apply for the youth mobility scheme if you have previously spent time in the UK as a working holidaymaker.

Hope this helps, good luck :-)

  2. it's only been since march 2008 because the immigration laws changed in UK, there was a big rush to put cases through and get into UK befor this happend, so there have been a lot of rejections due to this, if i was you and you can, wait a little longer to let the bottleneck of cases be delt with, then you will have a better chance of getting one.

  3. That is the way it is in the UK (and the US). People who are respectable, speak English and share a common culture have the hardest time. Those who don't get in easily.

You first answer was spot on. But you might wish to just apply and claim your spot in line. If it ends up being denied you will then know why and be able to attack it again later.
