Why are so many envious of Michael Phelps?

The make allegations like he's on performing enhancing drugs etc., why is that?

Most of the people saying he's on drugs are people who aren't American. They're just pissed he's not representing their country, because he really is good.

The claims that he's using performing enhancing drugs are ridiculous because he's tested every day (like all the other athletes) and he's even volunteered to do extra testing.

He works extremely hard and his hard work pays off.  he has had enough experience that he knows exactly what to do now for these meets and his coaches knowledge with his makes him the best ever.  That's all there is!

Well if that isn't calling the kettle black if he was from another country he would have been accused of being a cheat a long time ago.

Its all right to say China cheats and for some big mouth American to say an Australian cheats  its so ironical to that it was Gary Hall jnr that said he would smash the Australians like guitars in the relay in Sydney and when the French say something similar well they are worst in the world.

Hey jelle I am not French and most others on here aren't either I am sticking up for my Australian champion swimmer who was accused of cheating by your countryman so as a previuos poster said people in glass houses.

I'm an Australian swimming fan and I think Michael Phelps is the most awesome athlete I've ever seen.

I don't think for a moment that he isn't squeaky clean and drug free. He's simply a physical superman who is also technically perfect and the combination of natural ability and technique makes him unbeatable. His starts and turns and stroke techniques are flawless and he seems to be a nice bloke as well. I hope he wins his 8 gold medals and wouldn't be at all surprised if every one is a world record as well.

Gary Hall Jnr. has some kind of attitude problem and I wish he'd retire gracefully and stop the sour grapes. Phelps is clean and so is Sullivan and the rest of the Australian team.

It's called the 'Tall Poppy Syndrome'. When someone is clearly miles ahead of everyone else, it's human nature to bring them back down to everyone elses level. Personally, I think Phelps is just a tremendious athlete that has trained his *** off to get to where he his today.

Remember when Thorpy was winning everything? Same thing happened - they accused him of being a drug cheat.

I have no idea... but there have been studies on why he's anatomically more advantageous than other swimmers... wingspan is 3" longer than his height, his ankles bend 15 degrees further making them more flipper like and his body gets rid of lactic acid (causes cramping in swimmers) something like 3 times faster allowing him to recover faster than other swimmers after a race.

I think they'd have a better case at arguing that Phelps is a new species than using performance enhancing drugs lol.

It's pure jealousy because their countries probably don't have the state of the art training facilities the US does and also because Michael Phelps has a very fast metabolic rate in order to eat 12,000 calories each day without even breaking a sweat or gaining massive weight.

I bet that if the other swimmers ate that much, they'd cramp up in the pool.  Also, I believe they can't hang with the exercise regimen that Michael has otherwise they'd end up in the hospital from overexertion.
