Is there a "Patel Cartel" of ownership among gas and convenience stations? I'm asking about the owners of these businesses, and not the employees. thanks

  1. Well, it's no just Indians/South Asians. There are lots of immigrants who need a job, and so they work at a gas station.  Dollar stores, taxi driving, and other type of jobs are also popular among immigrants.

  2. Why are so many cars driven by white people?

  3. Because it's an easy business to start up, and it requires little capital.  It's a good side investment for recently arrived immigrants.

A lot of Indian and Middle Eastern people own motels too.

  4. do they owen it,.. maybethey just employee in gas stations

  5. i dont think they own them. they i know for sure they dont own bp and shell caltex servos, but other ones yeh probrably..

good question tho. to get get a job in a servo as a whit person is near imposible. they probrably dont have much of a choice when they migrate over to our country, either work in a servo or drive a taxi..

  6. i wonder this myself but im part indian and i asked my dad that and he said its like one of the only good jobs they can get.

  7. Because more and more Americans think that a job that doesn't require a degree is beneath.  America is slowly losing that 'do it yourself' tenacity that it was founded on.  This is allowing more and more immigrants to take jobs.  This is an easy one for them to get into, as was eluded to before.
