Why are so many interested in attending UCLA??

Because it is a top notch school and a lot of employers recruit on campus.  Also, since it's a public school it is considerably cheaper than a private institution, well, for California residents anyway.

Plus, they have a good basketball team and the surrounding city is really nice.

UCLA is known for leading edge technology.  I got to know UCLA hospital and staff last year when my son's father had a life saving liver transplant on July 7, 2007.  As I walked thru the halls of the hospital from Feb. 07 to Sept. 07 I saw some pretty amazing miracles with transplants and also cancer treatments.  If I could recommend one hospital in the world, it would be UCLA.  The staff and students really had a great working relationship, a common goal and destiny.  It's an amazing place.
