  1. I think the dark is unkown of course... and it's starts when your a child... Always monsters in the dark!

    Our own imagination fills the dark spaces with what we dread being there.

  5. becuase from the time we can understand the concept of light and dark- we come to understand that the dark is bad, dangerous, and the light is beautiful, inviting, etc.  society did this from the beginning of time dark vs. light, light vs. dark- it is ingrained in our minds.

  6. I'm not afraid of the dark... but rather the unseen things I can slam into in the dark.

  9. Because with a lack of information the brain can create things in your field of vision, hallucinations. This can plainly be seen if someone is in extended visual deprivation, such as with a cast over their face, or sensory deprivation such as in torture funded by good old Uncle Sam.

    The amount of time for hallucinations to appear for adults can be as long as 48 hours, but for children it can be just a few minutes. Additionally, shadows appearing as something else or just the lack of anything visible can be very frightening to children.
