Why are so many people against homosexuality?

Question

If it's not affecting anybody but the individuals and their families, what does it matter to the rest of the world? It's okay to disagree with it, but why not be tolerant?

homosexuality is between two consenting adults, bestiality is between one consenting adult and a being that cannot represent itself.

its two different ballgames.

a better analogy is that g*y marriage is like straight marriage. it affects no one but the two people involved.

there is nothing wrong with being g*y. im a straight man and i am perfectly comfortable having g*y friends.

g*y marriage is one of the last impedements to true freedom. with each new generation we are getting more tolerant. and with the internet to aid with our ability to converse with those different than ourselves. the next thirty years will be amazing in terms of equality.

It's just something they're not used to seeing or how they were raised, so it doesn't seem right to them.  I think it's a generational thing, more than a religious thing.  Plus, some cultures out there emphasize masculinity a lot, so when they think of g**s, they feel ashamed because that person (to them) isn't playing a man's role.

Homosexuals are worse about making converts to your life style than atheists think Christians are to Christianity. Tolerant how? It is sin. Most homosexuals do not agree with that. I'm sure Jeffry Dahmer thought all the reaction was self-righteousness. Again I ask you tolerant in what way? YOU entered this forum. YOU brought it up. What are you trying to accomplish by doing that? The homosexuals that claim they want "tolerance" are liars. You want heterosexuals to ACCEPT your life style. Beats me.  Some people seem to need an Other to fear.  Since it's no longer polite to discriminate against women or the disabled or those  whose skin color is different, g**s and atheists are among the last "Others" available.

I am a christian and I accept homosexuals now.

I will not lie, I am being 100% honest with you.  I have no reason to make up stuff to advance my own goals like a lot of athiest do.  I was a bit prejudice against homosexuals and I felt it was a sexual perversion like child molesting.  My logic was that if two people enter a binding contract allowing one of them to rape their dead body when they are gone even when they are two consenting adults, should we let necrophiliacs have their way?

Today afterschool, I had one of my close female friends tell me that a lot of kids at our school was g*y.  She told me two guys who were friends with me, came out as g*y.  Then she said another guy I didn't know is g*y and he was having s*x with another male student who I sit next too in class.  It changed my view comepletely upside down.  I didn't get angry but I was kinda puzzled.

Now I accept homosexuals even if they are sinning.  As long as they repent for their sins then they are okay.  I will not break my friendship with them just because they came out.  FYI, I am a 17, male who is straight.

Being against homosexuality is not a religious principle.  I know atheist online(Jack Swifts) and IRL who are against homosexuality and they are the most unreligious(not trying to insult) people I know.

People don't like the idea of "icky" and "gross" things.

To some, g*y people are just that.

Since a majority of the U.S. population is like this, there can't be marriage, and there is a lot of bias and hate towards them.

Everybody needs a scapegoat and someone to unload hate on, it just so happens g**s are the scapegoat in this case.

40 years ago it was african americans, 20 years before that it was jews.

It's always someone.

Actually there is a much higher rate of STDs in the hetero-sexual population than in the g*y.

Thing is, g*y people aren't animals, they are humans.

There is a huge difference between bestiality and g**s.

g**s are not the ones creating hate and intolerance, it's quite the opposite. The ones who are really creating the intolerance and hate are the people who hold up signs saying things like

death to g**s
