Shouldn't we focus on people's status as HUMAN BEINGS rather than on superficial things, such as their gender or race? If anything, the fact that so many people are making such an issue of Obama's race and Palin's gender seems to suggest that our society hasn't come far enough in recognizing racial and sexual equality, despite all claims to the contrary.

  1. They just can't get it.

That's why there is always war.

  2. People fussing over Palin's gender are hypocritical pigs. People fussing over Obama's race are just confused...he doesn't even know who he is!!

  3. As much we all would like  to ignore gender and race each of our top three presidential candidates  have chosen to use race or gender strategically to garner support. Sorry but it's just too hard for people to ignore. Hillary, Mccain, and Obama have all been guilty of this.

These issues won't go away until there has been a president of both each gender and each race. Black and Female are the hot topic now.

In the future it will be Hispanic American , Asian American, Native American, Arab American. I don't think these issues are going away anytime soon; not until electing a  new type of face becomes the norm and not the exception.

  4. Ms Tangerine, you are right in all that you say. It almost seems like people enjoy being divided instead of coming together as humans. It gets to be ridiculous at times. I've said things out of jest, and do apologize if they are insensitive to others. Deep in my heart I want all of us to look at each other as humans, nothing more, nothing less. Peace to you.

  5. Because they want America to be run by a bunch of rich white men!

  6. Well, we haven't come far enough, in case you haven't noticed.

I personally think the selection of Palin is a slap in the face to women.  Had McCain picked a Republican woman senator like Kay Bailey Hutchison or Elizabeth Dole, or even former governor and EPA administrator Christie Todd Whitman, I wouldn't be so insulted--you'd have a pretty good ticket.  But does he think people are going to vote for McCain-Palin because she's female?  Come on!

  7. Once a fool brainwashed, is always a fool brainwashed.

  8. it does indicate that we are not advanced because it's true.  I am actually glad that he did chose Palin because I think this race will alienate racists/sexists. Maybe for once some of them will actually have to think and make an informed decision and like or lump that they will have to vote for something as far out as a black man or a woman GASP.

  9. Those aren't people they are nuts

  10. Cause they're libs.
