Why are so many people using the Politics board as a forum?

There are multiple questions here that are simply thinly-veiled statements. And the asker then uses "additional details" to respond to posts that people have made. Why aren't they just using message boards?

  1. I wish Yahoo would delete questions that are like the one you described. This isn't a discussion forum.

  2. so, what do YOU want to discuss, Bill Clintons shoe size~??

  3. this seems safer?

  4. It's a good way to vent  and feel a part of the political process.

Some of us volunteer, go door to door, make calls, etc.

Others sit in front of their computers and whine. Guess who is going to get out the vote?

I have a Whedon/Minear bumper sticker (Buffy fans will know) on my car "For a stronger, vampire free America". I had a stranger pull up in the parking lot behind me today to say its the best political bumper sticker he's seen in years.

  5. Thinly-veiled diatribe, and witless rhetoric are what this category is all about. The closer the elections get, the worse it will be.

  6. There are community guidelines. Some of us follow them but many use YA to rant and to try to cram their opinions down others throats. The guidelines are pretty simple to understand but there are some pretty simple minded people here. Obviously.

  7. You mean like you just did?

  8. isn't this a terrific example of what you are complaining about?

  9. I guess they have no one else to accost with the rambling opinions.  Lucky us.

  10. Ironic

Your 'question' is a perfect example of what you're describing...hmm

  11. I have found YA to be an interesting distraction.  If people choose to vent here... so be it again, it's just an interesting distraction.

Each day, I am challenged to research something or consider a different viewpoint on something so I guess with YA...I think therefore I am.
