Why are so many pets illegal in California?

Just to name a few: Hedge hog, ferret, sugar glider.

Why is this?

cause California sucks a$$

no kidding, they have so many restrictrictions and laws, they are just rediculos, and the funny thing is, they have all these laws but are liberal to boot

it is pretty much the hippie gestapo

but to answer your specific question my assumption would be to protect those animals from abuse and possibly being introduced into the native population
