Question:

Why are so many politicians and preachers perverts?

I'm so sick of hearing about our elected officials getting busted for unseemly offenses in mens rooms and parks. And I'm also very tired of hearing about our religous leaders bumping uglies with little girls and young boys.

What is it about these professions that draws so many unhealthy personalities? Is it the stress of leadership that turns them into creeps?

  1. As for the religious leaders, I believe it has more to do with the fact that many of them try to cut off sexual urges completely, which goes against our primal behavior, so it manifests its way the only way it can, many times resulting in pedophilia. As for the the elected officials, power does strange things to people, and people especially susceptible to "immoral" behavior tend to give in, and since the public is always watching, we find out every dirty deed. Most people have dirty secrets, the only difference is the public isn't watching the rest of us.

  2. It is an accepted fact that politicians are not statesmen now.  There was a time when only service-minded altruists entered the arena of politics.  Now the accepted dictum of amassing wealth has polluted the governing systems.  Without any qualm of regret, political parties amass wealth.  That happens in democracy also.  They are closely related to religious leaders also.  Corruption in scruples, material gains and moral sense make the lay man uneasy and helpless.  People get suffocated by the coersion of these people.  So all citizens should be aware of this and resist injustice of any kind.       U.K.Atiyodi, Kandangali 670 333

  3. If you're talking about Sen. Craig or Pastor Haggard, they were Republican right wing neo-cons.  Let's hope that Obama wins, because he will not put up with that c**p!

  4. I don't know that there is any scientific answer to this.  My opinion, however, is that such people are in positions of power and, sadly, power often corrupts us.  We start to feel that we are somehow "above" the normal dictates of society.  So such people delude themselves into taking risks.

  5. Members of both professions hold a lot of power, which intimidates people into doing what they want.

In the case of the priesthood, they are forbidden to have s*x, so they choose kids, because they figure kids can be intimidated into not telling.

Elected officials often think that they are untouchable as far as the law goes, or that if they get into trouble, they can bribe their way out.

It's hard to tell whether there are really more politicians engaging in unseemly behaviour than any other group of men, or if it just appears that way because we hear about it when they get caught.
