Question:

Why are so many questions on this forum about the candidates' families rather than the candidates?

Many of the questions here concern Michelle Obama and Bristol Palin. The candidates need to be evaluated on their merit not what their wives or daughters said or did. One of the few things I agree with Obama on is the fact that the candidates' families should be left out of the process. Neither Michelle nor Bristol are running for office. I wish people would just drop these family issues. I have never seen anything in the past like this.

  1. I don't know but I do know it didn't seem to be an issue until Palin's family came under unfair attack.  I've definitely seen some ridiculous comments about Obama's wife, mother AND his young daughters.

  2. People are nosey and shallow.

  3. One reason that Palin's personal life is being scrutinized is that she has presented herself as "just a hockey mom" -- that was part of what she wanted the U.S. to know about her.  If she feels that that's an important part of what qualifies her to be VP then we have the right to wonder what type of mom she really is.

  4. It isn't easy to defend your candidate based on merits. I'm willing to say that over half of each parties followers here can't explain two of their candidates policies in detail. It would be nice if the tin foil hat wack jobs and their inane theories could have a "political attacks" to clean this section up.

  5. To keep the people entertained with Hollywood type antics, that way the candidates spend less time on the issues! Just the way the 2 parties want it!

  6. Palin opened America into her life when she decided to open her 1st speech with my husband this and my kids that and Im a soccar mom up until a few years ago.  If thats not opening a can of worms, I dont know what is.  So you dont think that a persons moral and family values has anything to do with thier job?  I think it has a lot to do with a persons character and  how they make decisions in their personal and professional life are both important

  7. becuase obama doesnt stand on no issues, all he can do is tell his legions to attack.

  8. i suppose your right but EVERYTHING is open to the public these days i guess people just cant help it

  9. How about some debate on their policies? Then maybe people would take Americans a little bit seriously when they talk about democracy and freedom.

  10. The average American is an idiot, and is more interested in People magazine than policies. This is why we have the Electoral College, if only they still did their jobs.
