why are some things so i.e HM Revenue and Customs, HM Treasury. HM Prisons etc whilst other things aren't i.e. the MOD, FCO etc.

Why does the queen own them, i don't trust the tax people at the best of times, let alone when the queen is in charge.

  1. Let alone when the queen is in charge? Well because she's your head of state. And historically, those departments with HM are accountable to the Queen. And even if the prefix HM isn't placed on some departments like the MOD, she is still head of the British Armed Forces.

  2. Her Majesties Ministry Of Defence doesn't sound very good?

  3. The Queen isn't in charge of these departments, that's the job of our  MPs.  The Queen is the Head of State and as a result of which each and every one of us are Her Majesty's Subjects whether we like it or not.  The same goes for the public bodies.  They are not owned by the Government, but by the Government on behalf of the Queen.
