Why are some Muslims against women participating in sports?

Question

This is a follow-up to my previous question, I had many Muslim answerers telling me that women that participated in Olympics were "sinful" because they were not wearing hijab.We all know that its impossible to wear hijab and and play sports.Why are extremists being so backward instead of showing their support for the Muslim athletes competing?

Shouldn't we be more flexible and open-minded this is really backward in the modern world.

yes, Loving Allah means fearing Allah, we Love Allah, we ask him for the forgiveness, we obey him, we trust him and its like the purpose of our lives is to worship and obey Allah~!

Backward??? just maintain your limits, cover yourself properly, be in hijab and then participate in sports. if your hijab is becoming  a hurdle in your sports then leave sports as sports will not benefit you but hijab will.

Islam doesnt allow women to show thier bodies. There are some others works for women to do.

There is nothing backword and modernization in Islam.

Womens can play sport in their house or in grounds covering thier body completely. You have to avoid something in this world for the sake of Allah. In order to get heaven.

FYI Saudi 'Hotgirl' there are many Muslim ladies who veil and do sports. You need to do more research.

c women r powerful n if given a chance they prove themselves better than boys.  In muslims its still ppl think women cant do anythng better than man.  and they r doing so to stop them they have nonsense issues.  bcos they r scared.  this religious ppl r not doing it due to religion but yes to save their a**es cos once woman will achieve better than what they have provided so she is going to be independent.  thats all.  Muslims dont want to educate women and let her free to do anythng whateva she wants to do.

At least we don't want our body parts to be hopping & getting exposed infront of god nos how many people in this worthless world. i dont undersand how a muslim woman woman cannot wear a hijab while playing sports..why is some women so scared of a piece of cloth....who wants to walk around looking like a karrfir....not me mate

a muslimah shouldnt jeprodise her hijab for nothing in this dunya. your tolerant attitude is what breaks down this ummah. if allah said we can pick and choose when we wanted to cover than cool.....that isnt the case soo.....whats with the thumbs down?

omg yall i got no idea..i did see some muslim athlets though but they were from liberal countries.

some of the answers here is scary as radical muslims say women shouldnt participate in sports thats absolutely ridiculous and yeah its impossiblt to wear islamic dressin and compete i mean its absolutely not possible.

EDIT TO FARAZ: except for saudi and qATAR all arab country send female athletes and pakistan only send 2.most arab countries send more than that omg some ppl aer so backward!!

If woman take part in sport, have to wear sportwear that review their bearst sizes and tigh and arms.The muslim man will not unable to control and rape these woman. That is why woman to take part in sport are all coverup, these make them not fexiable in training and games.

I think u are stereotyping ! Only in Arab countries they Do not allow women To participate in Sports which Kinda sucks ! But in Pakistan and other Muslim non-Arab countries Women do  participate in Sports !

No harm in taking Part IN sports And Its Not even haram !

I was told a while ago that Muslims view women little more than a s*x organ (Whether this is isolated to extremists I don't know), and that it is viewed as a 'heinous crime' for women to show any skin in public.

We don't need to be more open minded, I'm sure you'll find that all (or at least most) 1st world countries treat women equally, It's they who should be more open minded, however this will never happen, they'd see it as going against god however you reasoned letting Muslim women not wear a hijab.

@Your question to Maria: The nature of the 3 dogmas (Muslim's, Jews, Christians) is to fear God, it says this countless times in the bible, and I'm sure it says it even more in the Quran, God is depicted in these so called Holy Books as a tyrannical monster, who hates disabled people (any type of disability, whether it be mental or otherwise), and a whole lot more, after reading the whole book you'll really begin to wonder just who everyone is praying to.

Fear is a powerful motivator, it has the ability to control and confuse, but for an extremists, it would be a weapon for them to wield, to use fear to intimidate and control, thus making people become scared and bow down to even the most ridiculous of things.

@Wearing a Hijab in sports question: I know it's not possible to wear a hijab during sports, but like I said, they view women as little more than a s*x organ, something to own, in other words... property.

@Extremists tolerance: Extremists take this to a greater offense, In a book called Sniper One (Detailing a soldier's 'peacekeeping' experience in Iraq) they talked about what would happen if a women was showing even a bit of her ankle out in public, she'd be nearly beaten to death, or worse, she'd actually be killed, extremist Muslim's wouldn't hesitate to kill someone for something they believe in, whether it means them dying as a consequence, they don't give a c**p so long as they're filling out their God's will, or so they see it.

It's a sad sad world, that'll take one heck of a long time to change, I'd recommend you don't get too worked up over it, as it's not going to change any time within the next 1000 years, it will probably never change.
