Why are some Olympic Athletes so rude?

I saw alot of them didn't have respect for their opponents. I think USA Athletes were more polite.

u shouldn't think so beacuse they are under pressure and need to stay focussed. They are the hopes of medals for their country so a lot is expeced from them. Will u keep smiling at all times in such a circumstance. of course not

Besides a lot of olympics athletes are actively engaged in campaigns against poverty, hunger, cancer, aids

u can just watch athlets rude in tv when u watch but u dont knw why r they rude.. behind the screen behind the competation  they has done hard work for 4 years to compit in olympics they have stress and  preasure which leads to act rude on the play ..if athlet is rude then we shouldnt read to worry but if the judge (refre) is rude then ???!!!!! but getting  rude is the output of stress and preasure mentally.. but many athlets hav good sportsmens sprit they r in control like u said usa athlets..

It's psychological thing.. I guess those athletes try to put down their opponents..

I haven't seen too many rude people myself, but I guess there are some, Could you give us some examples of what you saw. I see you mention the USA being polite, I have a feeling you might get people that might attack you for saying that in this section, it's all to common here.

Athletes are human beings , some people are rude, some are not, why should athletes be different ?

I feel that some athletes are rude but I would say the USA are at the top of the list.  It all comes down to individuals though, not the country they are from.
