when they were saying that Bush is responsible for the high price of gas. Oh, yes. They were also blaming Clinton for inaction when gas went to $1.50 a gallon. Is that called personal accountability?

  1. Ok, one more time. The gas prices are mainly so high because the American dollar is collapsing(being devalued big time). Is everyone falling for that 2 steps forward, 1 step back oil price game. See gas will go up so much that people start freaking out. Then they come down abit and we all go, thank goodness. What a game they play.

  2. Bush's legacy is in tatters. The next time that there are 2 sunny days in a row, the GOP will attempt to give George the credit.

  3. With all the other stuff he got us into that's the only thing he'll be remembered for. Yo yo gas prices!

  4. because election day is rapidly approaching and mccain wants a chance

  5. Bush waved his magic wand.

  6. He actually did, because he has led us right into a recession and that sets the market on its ear, and petroleum prices dropped.  However, republicans, incl McBush, claim prices are falling because Bush rescinded the ban on off-shore drilling, easing pressure on US markets.  Yeah... right!!!  he stumbled into it just like he has stumbled thru 7 1/2 yrs

  7. You can't be naive enough to believe that it's just Republicans who spin issues.  Every president since G. Washington has done the same thing.  If something goes wrong during their presidency, they point the finger at someone else;  if something goes right they try to take the credit.  It's called politics - and every politician, from the President down to state level officials, does it.

That's not to say that a president doesn't have a great impact on the direction that a country takes.  He does.  But no president, Republican or Democrat, can be held solely responsible.

People tend to view current events through the lenses of their party line.  But the truth is, it's a ripple effect started by a lot of different people and a lot of different factors, all thrown into the mix.

  8. Anybody who thinks that $4 a gallon for gas is a low gas price is an idiot.

I wish I was paying a buck and a half when Clinton was president.

Do you see how you're being manipulated?

  9. The President doesn't have anything to do with it -- it's all controlled by the market. Not  Clinton, not Bush, nor the  next President. These things go in cycles and whoever is in office at the time gets either the blame or the condemnation. There are just too many factors involved to blame any one person for the swing in gas prices.
