Yesterday I asked how to calm myself down, cos my father threatened my boyfriend that he'll kill him. I indicated I'm an adult and I know what my dad is capable of...plus all the cultural racist reasons he has. I got answers telling me "if your boyfriend aint man enough to step up to your dad then maybe he isn't worth it." Seriously, I don't know how that sounds to you but to me it sounded almost as if that person is basing the answer on nothing, but just to sound good or feel proud. That didn't even asnwer my question, which was how to calm myself down.

  1. First off, I'm sorry about your situation. It sounds really stressful and I hope that it calms down soon. I think you're right, people do say anything just to inflate their ego or to overcompensate. Some answers on here just make me think my God,  how could you kick someone when they're down?

I'm in a high stress situation too and my doctor gave me some good advice. She said to just take a dye free Benadryl. It's the same ingredient that's in AdvilPM or Tylenol PM.  It won't hurt you and it's not addictive. Sometimes when I'm just about to panic I take one. It doesn't wipe you out it just kind of takes the stress down a little.

If that sounds a little too 'medicated' have you tried just getting through 5 minutes, then the next 5 minutes? It gives you a focus so you can start dealing with everything a little at a time.

    I hope this helps.
