  1. Arowana tend to have this develope over time in a tank usually by improper diet.  This has nothing to do with tank mates or predators.  In fact, in nature, an Arowana has NO natural enemies so it's nothing to do with other fish around.

If you are feeding surface foods only, as you should be, then try to cut back on the protein.  Apprentice is correct that a high protein diet in Arowana promotes this, combined with nothing on the surface to keep it's focus on.  Try putting ping pong balls, and maybe styrofoam, anything that will float.  Put alot of it on the surface. This should help out keeping your Arowana looking upwards.

  2. yes hobbyist put pingpong ball on the water. A friend of mine put that in all his aro tank.  It is really true Aro keepers do put pingpong ball in a tank to prevent this.

  3. They are always looking down to check for predators that it eventually droops down. Another way is a fatty diet allows fat to build up in the eyes and the eyeball starts to droop. Either are very common in arrowanas.
