Why are some cars not crash tested by ncap (euroncap)?

does anyone know if its the manufacturer that doesnt submit cars for testing or some other criteria such as how many cars of that model have been sold ?

  1. my understanding is that the manufacturers would submit cars for testing, so its not really a big surprise that there arent ratings for some cars.. cant see ferrari or lamborghini handing over 250 grand's worth of motor just to have it smashed up .. they're goin to sell them anyway, ncap ratings ot not. bugatti wont be handing over a veyron either.. nor will rolls and bentley be rushing out to bust their lovely machines for no benefit..........


  2. Euro NCAP policy is to test the best selling version of a car model with the safety features which it has as standard in all 15 EU Member States.

    Due to time constraints and costs, it is impossible for Euro NCAP to test every existing single model of a car model and its variants.
