i seen a job i was interested in, the job was working with the mental, and people with handycaps, its at a mill, and recycle center, i have worked with these type of people before training them and working with them, and basicly dealing with there problems, and i have been told i have a gift at dealing with these people, so i thought i would look into the job more close, i find out it only pay 9.00 to start to be determined.bentefits are availble, that probly means they suck. and you have to pay for them. is this the going wage for this type of work ,i thought it would be more if they real expect to find some one good. the job add said you must be on call, and availble to work week ends, and it pays 9.00 hour.i new a guy that worked at this place that hit anouther man with a club and allmost killed him, i new another guy that cut his fingers off, these are just a couple of guys that i meet in the comunity so i am sure it could be a real mad house. what do you think they should pay some one

  1. Double if not more.

They always test the waters first because there is always a sucker that will take the job at a low rate.

We are not suckers so everyone should stick together and leave those jobs alone, they will get desperate soon enough and bring the rate up.

Edit: Just answering to your added details.

Usually a qualification in a form of a college degree or certificate that is useful to the job will allow you to negotiate a rate. Experience wouldn't hurt either.

And I believe they should take this into consideration.

    If not, leave them alone.

  2. I believe the politically correct term would be "mentally challenged", not "the mental". This expression leaves the reader to think you do not care about these individuals whom you imply that you would like to [help?]

Furthermore, your describing physically handicap individuals as "people with handicaps". That doesn't sound right. Plus you misspelled it as well.

I would hire you as a volunteer worker though.

However you would have to take a class first in compassion for humanity.

  3. If you are looking for a supervisor position and want to demand a higher wage you'll need to make yourself more presentable in order for employers to take you seriously. You may have technical skills to be a mill worker and maybe you do better with people one-on-one than it appears by your writing. But in order to get the job you are looking for, maybe take some classes at a local college to improve writing skills and grammar usage. Also possibly some disabilities awareness workshops so that you do not come across as uncaring in your speech about the those with disabilities.

  4. Check the job market for your state. The library has books for the job wages.

  5. Is it the employer thats stupid?

Or the guy working a c**p job for only $9 an hour.

Employers hire people smarter but stupider than them.

Smart enough that they know what they're doing well.

But stupid for working for a small check.

  6. Just based on the question and how everything was phrased and spelled and lack of grammer skills I would say that 9.00 per hour would be a great wage. If you are presenting yourself this way to perspective employers no wonder they are not offering more to start. The position that you have described requires a lot of personal skills as well as communication skills. Maybe you need to brush up on some of those skills before you try again.
