Why is it that when two teams that play in the same group, it's called a game for six points. Does the winning team actually get six points or is it mean something else.

  2. It really isnt 6 points, I had the same misconception.

They call it a 6 point game cause its 3 points for the winning team "plus" the 3 points the other team DIDNT get, important cause the tournament is played in groups.

  3. ther's not such a thing like that

  4. Because they say it counts as 2 games since its in the same group. It really only counts as 3 but since you get 3 an the other team loses 3 its like if it counted as 6 points.

  5. "No such thing" is right, but.....

When two same-group teams play, the game's effect on their standings in relation to each other will be six points (excepting a tie).

To illustrate: A same-group game next weekend is Pumas v. Morelia. Pumas now has 7 points, Morelia 3.

If Pumas wins, they will then lead Morelia in the standings by 7 points (10>3). If Morelia wins, Pumas will lead them by only 1 point (7>6).

6 points (7-1) is the difference between a win and a loss for Pumas and Morelia in relation to each other.
