  1. In the world of random events such as gambling anything is possible.  As you play more and more against a house advantage, the probibilty of retaining winning decreases and approaches 0%, however it never actually reaches zero percent.   To play enough trials to say put that probibility down to say somehting like 0.1% which is 1:1000  you would need to play so much that the average gambler just doesnt do it.  What ends up happening is some people have net wins for all of their play and some peopel have net losses for all of their play, in the sum of alll of the peopel that play in the casino, the casino makes money.

If you continue to gamble eventually you will lose, but there is no telling when.

It is possible to win more oftan than lose by employing tactics to poker, blackjack, and spanish 21

I think people get addicted to the rush they get from winning money, and the urge they get to want to win it back when they lose it making them wish to continue playing.

  2. someone who is addicted to something is very very different than someone who isnt. it doesn't matter what it is: drugs, p**n, alcohol, etc., and they all lose in the long run.

the reason people become destructively addicted to something is related to the same causes as depression. they have some sort of flaw in their personality that they are unable to accept, and they are unable to reconcile their self-image with the reality of their situation. the biggest reason why depression is considered uncurable is because it is almost impossible to get someone to change the fundamental image of themselves.

  3. Because the possibility of winning is thrilling.

  4. The vast majority of people who gamble in casinos do lose over the long run. Proof is simply the number of casinos and the enormous profits they generate.

And if they find that any one particular gambling event is not making the profit they wish, then they simply just change the rules.

For example, on a recent trip to Las Vegas, I noted that most of the Blackjack tables now have the dealer hit soft 17, a disadvantage to the player. I also saw a number of tables labeled "Blackjack pays 6-5" not the normal 3-2 payoff.

Even in poker games, the house rake, or the tournament buyin, has been raised, which takes money form the game over time. One poker tournament I saw had a $45 buyin, 30 to the prize pool, 10 to the house and 5 to the dealer.

You can offset some of this loss with a Players Card, which provides comps (freebies), but the casinos are even getting stingy with these rewards. Here is a link on how to get more and better comps from the casinos.

And stay away from the slots! They are the most profitable games for the casino!

Overall, if you gamble at a casino, you will lose in the long run. There are exceptions for players who have developed high levels of skill at certain games such as Blackjack, Craps and Poker, but that is about it.

Gamble responsibly with a good money management system and treat it as a form of entertainment, like going to see a movie. You pay to see the movie, and are entertained.

In a casino, you pay to play, and are entertained, and maybe once in a while you can walk away with a few more bucks than when you walked in, and then that is FREE entertainment! LOL.
