  1. It seems to me that most who are put off, have issue with the non-definitiveness of the body of philosophical endeavor.

And those that are attracted to it are moths drawn to the flame of free thought and contemplations that they themselves were not even aware of as considerations.

  2. The maturity level of people. The more mature the person is, the more mature their thoughts and interests they have.

  3. curiosity vs complacency

  4. how can u ask this question?  obviously some people are drawn to sports some to art, some to music, some to DOING sports..  We are all different.

We are a combo of genetics and environment

  5. BOREDOM

    FREEDOM

    "NOISYNESS"

    MOTIVATION

    HAPPYNESS

    EXPLORATION

    DIFFERENT-NESS

    CHALLENGE

  6. My opinion is that some people are intimidated by thinking about things too deeply.  why?  Maybe they're afraid that they won't have an answer, maybe they think it is a waste of time and irrelevant, or maybe they are afraid to think outside of what is taught to them.  Most people are afraid of what they don't know and they like to have solid answers, which philosophy does not always have.

  7. I think some people "react" to what they hear, rather than listening to it, pulling it apart and trying to figure out what was actually said.  Like Nancy Grace; I'm pretty sure she's not a philosopher. :-)

If you can see shades of gray, or a moral compass that can't always find "true north", welcome to the club!

  8. For the same reason that some are drawn to baseball and some aren't: they derive pleasure form it. Otherwise, I'd say that some people are just more curious than others.

  9. Different people have different interests.  What appeals to some may be boring to others.

  10. cogito ergo sum

  11. I'm drawn to philosophy. I want the meaning of things that science can't explain, plus I have an interest in phsycology.
