Poker seems to be alot about the luck of the draw, yet some people seem to always win, always getting the good hands. How do they do that?

  1. It's about being able to calculate the right move at the right time and knowing how to manipulate your opponents. Like they say, poker is 30% luck, 30% skill and 40% emotion. Try making someone mad, they will be quick to go all in, just so they can try to beat you. If you have good cards, it would be easy to take them out. If you have bad cards, just keep upsetting them until you get good cards, they'll call most of the time. Another pointer, try not to go all-in pre-flop, only raise big when necessary. Also, know when your beat and fold it down if there's any doubt. Good Luck!

  2. Because it's a game of skill not chance. 3. just simply luck this is really hard to believe and sounds stupid it really just is luck nothing else to it.

  4. It's a game with part luck(chance) and part skill.

Some people with bad hand can bluff their way to win.

Some will always get the very good hands they don't need to bluff.

Some will always get ban hands that even if they try to bluff, they will end up beaten by someone who's holding a better hand.

Some holds a good hand(like a straight on the flop), goes all in only to be beat by someone holding 2-7 that ends in full-house 2 and 7(believe me, it did happen).

  5. Poker takes mental and social skills to be successful.  You need to know the possibilities and probability of each hand.  Also, you need to be able to read your opponents "tells".  Without either of these, then it is a game of chance.

  6. They don't always get good hands. They turn bad hands into good ones. You're not playing against cards, you're playing against people. A good poker player can have nothing and have the other guy lay down a flush. Those are the good poker players.

  7. it is a game of statistics, not chance

  8. Some people are just born lucky. My son wins at EVERYTHING. He was born lucky. Wish I was!

  9. they cheat

  10. Poker is a game of skill that encompasses the element of chance, or luck. Some versions require much more skill than luck, depending on the game and the rules.

The same players win because they have the skills and experience to know what hands to play and how to play them. The reason you see the "good hands" is because those players may not play "bad hands". They win with patience, waiting for the right oppportunity, and then making the most of each hand they do play.

  11. ok this question is easy to answer because i play 24/7, poker is about good decision making and knowing your odds. what i recommend is for you to try mixing up your game when playing no limit(sometimes call till the river and place a big bet making it look like a trap) and keep it the same (always betting the same amount for almost everything) when playing limit hod'em. rarely bluff, and when you do bluff make sure you bluff mostly when a set possibility comes out on the river for example: A,8,2, flops you get raised a little call then comes J, you get raised again u just call then 2 on the river bet high and most likely they will think u have a set and fold. Try it, and like i always say," If you scared of money you make no money". Good luck !
