i have noticed that lots of people try and use the constitution in their attempts to win an argument. but these are the same people that do not understand it...they dont know what certain parts are applied to and what not...these are the same people that twist and turn the constitution and these are the same type of people who are hypocrites....they talk about their free speech and what not but then someone else comes along and because they dont like what they have to say, those people want to get them in trouble.

are these people that are abusing the constitution this way just making a mockery of it and just pushing for some kind of reform?

why dont the people that use the constitution to win an argument actually do their research, are they afraid that if they did they would end up being proven wrong?

have you been around people like that? (i also find that there are ALOT of people like that on yahoo answers too).

  1. Absolutely. Although I think we need to distinguish between ordinary people and politicians. Ordinary people who improperly use the Constitution to justify things are just uneducated. Politicians who improperly use the Constitution to win arguments are just mocking it.

  2. They are just uneducated.

  3. I don't think they are either abusing the constitution or making a mockery of it. I think they are just ignorant of how it works or what's in it.Yes, I do find lots of people on here claiming "constitutional rights" that don't exist.

One thing right now that is bothering me is Obama's radio commercials in "key" states that actually claims that if McCain gets elected, he will make abortion illegal. No President can do that! I think he's trying to use this ignorance to his advantage. Sadly, it will work too often.

  4. As republicans continue selling our country to the highest bidder, they attempt to render the Pledge of Allegiance meaningless.  They are trying to outlaw the word liberty in the Constitution, the Pledge of Allegiance, the 4th of July's Declaration of Independence and the Statue of Liberty. However, flag pins are so important and are starting to take on the same meaning as swastikas.  These people haven't read what the constitution says about liberty and reproductive rights of women.  They think life ends at birth and don't care to acknowledge 100 million orphans, rape, and pregnancy complication, such as tubal pregnancies.   They want the government to regulate women's uteri, privates lives, and religion. To force a woman to have a child is, in essence, slavery.  As Sarah Palin's Spokesman Tucker said, "Private matters are private among family," "It is dangerous to confuse public and private," and "The family DECIDED to keep the baby."

Bush doesn't like that Constitution "piece of paper."

  5. Honey.  Sweetheart.

You do realize that the First Amendment doesn't apply to the Yahoo! Answers forum, don't you?  You see, the First Amendment protects your right to political and other forms of speech, your right to worship as you choose, and your right to assemble with other people with similar views from being infringed upon by the government.  Yahoo Answers does not equal the government.  Random idiot on Yahoo Answers does not equal the government.  A private business is not the government.  Someone's house is not the government.

So before you give lectures on the Constitution and how no one really understands it... try to at least glance over it beforehand.

  6. Imho, the people who abuse the Constitution the most are also the richest and most powerful people in the world.  The Bush administration is full of them, including of course, Bush himself.  They understand the Constitution just fine, but they don't agree with it, don't like it and are doing their best to shred it.  http://oldamericancentury.org/14pts.htm

  7. Perhaps if you actually gave us some examples of this Misuse or abuse we could actually answer your question.
