For example, I brush well and I have a few cavities and some tiny ones too. On the other hand, my older brother doesn't brush regularly, and he has no cavities.

  1. I'm willing to bet that it's genetics. Different people are predisposed to get any number of ailments. It's just the unfortunate luck of the draw.

  2. Because some people use better toothpaste...

  3. Some people simply have softer, more decay prone teeth than others. It seems to be hereditary. My mother has this problem and she doesn't like sweets so the argument about eating too much candy isn't always true. I also have weak teeth and have had a lot of dental work. Still, those of us who are prone to problems are less likely to neglect our teeth and are more likely to visit a dentist regularly. Even though they have been heavily restored, I still have most of my teeth. A lot of people my age don't. My husband has relatives who never got cavities in their lives. They have no teeth because because they had gum disease and didn't see a dentist. Instead, they allowed their teeth to become so loose that they literally fell out.

  4. my bf and i use SAME toothpaste and i have a cavity seems like every 3 months and he has never had one.... i brush my teeth twice a day...... so i think some people just have the genes for it! unluckily for us!
